Split Second !!!

I came a split second – I mean a SPLIT SECOND – from biting the dust this morning !!!!

It was really foggy on the way to work this morning.  And, as usual, I was getting aggravated at all the cars and trucks that drive in heavy fog with their headlights off. 

On one particular straight away I was driving about 65 mph.  I usually drive about 75 on that section, but it was really foggy this morning.  Then all of a sudden there’s a white SUV almost COMPLETELY in my lane.  The passenger side tires were the only thing in the other lane.  And they were on the yellow center lines !!!!

I barely had time to hit my brakes and swerve to the edge of the road as I saw the blonde woman driving look up and realize we were about to have a hellova crash.  She swerved back toward her lane and missed me by probably less than a foot !!!!

I don’t think I would have survived that one !!!!

My first thought was “DAMN !!!!”

Then I thought, “Well that would have been over pretty quick.”

Heh, then I thought, “Everyone at work would assume it was my fault.”

Seriously, though, I almost bought it this morning …

Woo Hoo !!!!

I'm so very proud of my baby girl. She has worked so hard.

Friends Are Forever

Shortly after I graduated from high school I moved away from the town I grew up in.  I had some very dear friends in my home town.  And I missed them very much.  Here's my question:

By moving away, did I lose those friends?

The answer is NO.  I did NOT lose those friends. 

I did, however, lose the almost daily contact I had enjoyed with them for years.  I missed that.  I really did.  Over the years the painful longing faded.  I was building my new life.  They were building theirs.  But so many times the oddest things would trigger memories of those old days.  A song, a situation, a movie, a smell, different foods.  Many times memories of my old friends were triggered.  I love that !

It was 25 years before I saw many of those friends again.  Man!  It was great to see them again !!!  We hugged.  We laughed.  We shared the crazied stories about the craziest memories we all shared.  It was awesome !!!!

And you know what I found out?  I hadn't lost ANY of those friends.  You know why?  Because friends are forever.
